Interesting article about the state of television in Australia. Raises some valid points about the quality of shows they air over here. I think a lot of people can agree we produce next to nothing australian-made worth watching with the exception of the odd show like the
chasers war.
One of the popular formats for TV shows at the moment is to show them in a "mini-series" style, where each episode is crucial to the story line. Shows are quite often "topical" and discuss recent events, not much point us watching "xmas specials" of shows when it's august a year later.
For the most part we "import" American TV, and air times are constantly changed and unreliable, weeks skipped, seasons aired many many months and even years behind. It's actually easier and more reliable to just download and watch shows of interest, so it's really no wonder that Australians are utilizing new and upcoming technology at a rapid rate, pity our TV stations don't do the same!
