Apple have gone ahead and released
safari for windows - I'm not sure I fully understand what their motives are for this, since so many apple users prefer firefox, but I suppose apple needs to have it's own supported browser out of the box.
However, this is a cool thing for developers, it means we can test rendering of web pages in safari on a windows PC. For some reason I've had to troubleshoot several safari problems this past 6 months, and while it was eventually figured out, it would certainly have been easier to have a live browser to test with!
As a side note, a few people have mentioned the great lengths apple go to with convincing mac developers to write programs that use the native osx user interface style, yet when apple releases a windows program they blow it all out of the water with a 100% non-standard windows interface. Font rendering is also non-standard. These issues have sort of meant that safari has shot itself in the foot before it even begins.
